School Meals

Children can have a school meal or bring a packed lunch of their own.

The school has its own kitchen and provides an excellent variety of meals daily. Our contract caterer is Caterlink.

All of our meals are cooked fresh on the premises daily, by Caterlink Catering Team, and a significant proportion of pupils choose the option of a wholesome hot dinner at lunchtimes.

Pupils can select to have a cooked meal every day, on specific days of the week, or on occasion, ad-hoc.

Please ensure you pre-order your child's lunches by Saturday for the following week on MCAS. Lunches can be booked for 3 weeks in advance.

School meals cost £2.93.

Criteria For Free School Meals

You are eligible if you are in receipt of the following:

From the start of the 2026/27 academic year, all children in households receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for free school meals. This is regardless of household income.

The transitional protection that has been in place since 2018, while Universal Credit (UC) was rolled out, has now ended.

Children currently receiving FSM must continue to meet the eligibility criteria. This will be confirmed through a recheck. Those who remain eligible will continue to receive FSM.

When you apply for free school meals, you will normally receive either a Targeted or Expanded award.

  • Targeted means that the school qualifies to receive additional funding called Pupil Premium
  • Expanded means you only receive free school meals, with no extra funding for the school

This scheme is available for school-age children and for post-16 students at a school with a sixth form or college.

Packed Lunches

Parents should encourage their children to eat a healthy packed lunch.

Fizzy drinks, sweets, crisps, chewing gum and chocolate are not permitted.

As there are currently children in school with nut allergies, it would be appreciated if chocolate spread, peanut butter or packets of nuts were not included in your child’s packed lunch.

Lunch boxes should be clearly labelled with the child’s name and class.

Snacks and Water

As a healthy mid-morning snack, we encourage children to bring fruit (fresh or dried) or raw vegetables (no sweets, chewing gum or crisps please).

For younger children, where parents wish to provide the mid-morning snack themselves, it is recommended that it is prepared for easy eating and stored in a small plastic container. Children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day.

Drinking water is available on tap in every classroom. It is recommended that every child brings in an individual, labelled water bottle.
